Association Events

The Upper Dam Pond Conservation Association hosts events in order to help achieve our goals of fundraising and beautification of the lake. Below are some of the events where the community have come together in service to help us save the lake.

March 16, 2024 - “Pasta & Dancing Night”

It was a wonderful night at the Anthony PNA for the Pasta & Dancing Night fundraiser event! The music was pumping and the kids were having a blast on the dance floor! It was a great night of family with the community the Association has helped build. The UDPCA would like to thank the Anthony PNA for the use of the facility, those who attended from the community, as well as all our wonderful team of hardworking volunteers who helped with setup, manned tables, and served food! Special thanks to Lori Jean Smith and the Events Committee for organizing the event!

February 4, 2024 - “Charity Bingo Night at the VFW”

It was a packed house at the West Warwick VFW for the Charity Fundraiser Bingo Night! The event was a great chance to spread information about our cause to a whole new group of people, and VP Tom Pendergast gave a short presentation of our Association’s mission to all in attendance. Thanks to all who attended and the all the volunteers and donations that made it possible! Special thanks to the West Warwick VFW and host Steve Santilli for holding such a great event for the Association!

December 3, 2023 - “Cookies & Cocoa with Santa”

On December 3, 2023 the Association hosted it’s second holiday event at the Anthony PNA. Despite the terrible weather and competing craft fairs attendence was excellent. The children were able to meet, get a photo, and drop off a letter with Santa. Everyone enjoyed cookies and cocoa while shopping the terrific vendors that were on hand selling items that made great handmade and customized holiday gifts.

The UDPCA would like to thank the Anthony PNA for the use of the facility, the vendors who attended as well as those that donated items for the raffle, those who attended from the community, as well as all our wonderful team of hardworking volunteers who helped with setup, manned tables, gift wrapped, and served food! Special thanks to Lori Jean Smith and the Events Committee for organizing the event and our resident Santa Frank Ranney!

September 23, 2023 - Fall Festival & Craft Fair

On September 23, 2023 the Association hosted our third annual craft fair in conjunction with a fall festival at the Anthony PNA in Coventry. The event was attended by a large variety of vendors, ranging from art, jewelry, beauty products, and food.

The UDPCA would like to thank the Anthony PNA for the use of the facility, the vendors who attended as well as those that donated items for the raffle, those who attended from the community, as well as all our wonderful team of hardworking volunteers who helped with setup, manned tables, and directed traffic! It was truly a team effort!

August 5, 2023 - 3rd Annual Breezy Lake Fishing Tournament

On August 5, 2023 the Association led by Joe Bettencourt hosted our third annual fishing tournament on the lake. Anglers of all ages and skill levels competed to haul in the biggest catch to win prizes and enjoy a great family activity on a beautiful day at Breezy Lake.

The UDPCA would like to thank Joe Bettencourt and family for organizing the tournament, our great partner Keep Kids Fishing, and all the volunteers to helped weigh fish and organize the event to help make it a success!

May 12, 2023 - Comedy Night

On Friday night May 12, 2023 the UDPCA hosted an amazing Comedy Night at the Anthony PNA. The hall was packed and everyone had a good time. Three comedians took the stage for the entertainment as volunteers sold raffle tickets and food prepared by the events committee. Special thanks to LoriJean Smith for organizing such a tremendous event, as well as Christine, Cheryl and Joe for all the hard work. Also thanks to Don, Frank, Patty, everyone who donated for the raffle, the Anthony PNA for the use of the facility, and all those in attendance.

April 28, 2023 - Middle School Field Trip

We had a visit from the students of the Feinstien Middle School. They walked from the school to the beach with a teacher and UDPCA board member Tom Prendergast met them at Regent St. He walked from around the beach, spillway, and surrounding areas. He explained to them what causes AIS and the stormceptor work needed. They were all polite 8th graders and very enthusiastic. Some of them want to volunteer to help with water testing and other events this year.  The school was very impressed with the presentation and looks to return next year with the next group of students.

April 22, 2023 - Earth Day Clean Up and Plant Sale

On April 22nd, 2023 the Association had an amazing turnout for the annual Earth Day Cleanup. The invasive water willows along the shoreline were the main focus of the efforts, with crews working in both coves and homeowners working along their shores to help remove these invasive plants an allow easier access to the water. A huge thanks to all those who volunteered their time and energy to help keep Breezy Lake looking beautiful for everyone to enjoy.

The annual Plant Sale was also held on White Rock Road, with a huge variety of plants available grown by Linda Pendergast. The event was quite popular, raising over $600 in sales plus more in donations.

December 4, 2022 - “Cookies & Cocoa with Santa”

On December, 2022 the Association hosted our first holiday event at the Anthony PNA. The children were able to meet and get a photo with Santa, enjoy cookies and cocoa, and made a craft ornament to take home. Lots of terrific vendors were on hand selling items that made great holiday gifts.

August 6, 2022 - 2nd Annual Breezy Lake Fishing Tournament

April 23, 2022 - Earth Day Clean-up and Plant Sale

On the morning of April 23, 2022 the Upper Dam Pond Conservation Association held a community clean-up day. Volunteers worked on beautification of the pond and trash removal along the shoreline. The event was accompanied by a plant sale fundraiser, an Association meeting, and a catered lunch provided by the Board.

The UDPCA would like to thank the following: Town of Coventry DPW and Parks and Recreation., Keep Kids Fishing, Warwick Tree Service for the dumpsters, Lewis Tree for the excellent work taking down some dangerous trees and making a cool table, Kristen Martin for manning the merchandise table, Linda Pendergast for growing/potting the plants, as well as all our hardworking volunteers!

March 19, 2022 - Pasta Night at the PNA

The Anthony PNA was the site of the Past Night fundraiser event to benefit the Association. The event was well attended by both Association members as well as locals who wanted to help our cause while having a fun night out. Wonderful raffle prizes were awarded and terrific food was enjoyed, another great event! A big thank you to the Anthony PNA for hosting, Meal Works for the delicious food, John Sosca, Cheryl Pierce, Gemma Riccio, Christine Bettencourt, The Board, John Graichen of Keeping Kids Fishing, and all those that contributed amazing raffle prizes including the fantastic kayak!

November 14, 2021 - Association Shoreline Cleanup

The Board hosted a shoreline cleanup event on November 14 on the eastern shoreline of the pond. The hardworking crew arrived early in the morning and worked on clearing out the underbrush and debris that had built up along the Club Jogues shoreline. The crew spent hours picking trash, clearing branches, and making the shoreline look terrific. A big thank you to all the members who attended and put in a great effort!

July 17, 2021 - Breezy Lake’s 1st Annual Fishing Tournament

The Board hosted the 1st Annual fishing tournament held at Breezy Lake. The event drew 66 people and 16 boats, expanding the outreach of our Association. We need to thank Joe Bettencourt for organizing the event and John Vanluevan Graichen with Keeping Kids Fishing for their support.

July 17, 2021 - Association Networking Event

The Board hosted a networking event which was very successful. Personnel from Save The Lakes, DEM, Parks & Rec, DPW & DAI attended which proved that our community is alive and well. At that event, DAI awarded our association two checks, totaling $1500. We need to thank Tom & Linda Pendergast for hosting a lovely event and DAI for their support.

July 17, 2021 - Steak Fry Fundraiser at Club Jogues

Cheryl Pierce, Don Antonelli and Gemma Riccio hosted a Steak Fry at Club Jogues on the 17th of July. It was a very large success bringing in $5k in Steak Fry and raffle sales. We should all thank them for their hard work and energy and a big Thank You to all supporters that contributed their products, time and wares to make this such a GREAT event.

June 12-13, 2021 - Community Yard Sale at Club Jogues

On the weekend of June 12 and 13, 2021 the Association held a community yard sale in the parking lot of Club Jogues to benefit the UDPCA. The event was a great success among the community and brought attention to our cause as we made new networking connections that will hopefully lead to great opportunities in the future.

May 1, 2021 - PNA Beer Tasting

On the May 1, 2021 the Anthony PNA held a Beer Tasting and Raffle Event to benefit the UDPCA. The event was a great success and brought attention to our cause, raising almost $3,000!
